Third Tank LLC is a limited liability corporation owned and operated by David Bryant Copeland that makes several different software products. Any of these products may use SMS for notifications or reminders. These features are always opt-in.
How SMS Reminders Work
While the specific UI of setting up SMS reminders differs from app to app, all Third Tank LLC web sites and web apps will follow the same general procedures to make sure you are only getting the texts you have agreed to get.
Receiving SMS is not Required to Use The Apps
You will never need to provide your phone number nor agree to receive SMS messages in order to use our apps. Receiving SMS messages is always optional and always requires your consent.
If You Choose to Consent:
We'll Always Tell You What SMS Messages You Are Consenting To Before You Consent
When given the opportunity to provide your mobile phone number, you should always see the reason for the request, and a link to more details about what sorts of texts you are agreeing to receive. You will never have to provide your phone number to use the app.
When Giving Consent, We'll Ask for Two Confirmations
When you choose to consent to receive SMS messages, we will ask you twice, to make sure we have your consent:
-
First, you'll see a checkbox on the form that collects your number. It may look like the example below. Regardless of the specific visual design, this checkbox will be labeled something like “checking this box means you consent to receive texts from «app»". If you don't check this checkbox, we assume you are not consenting, and thus, you won't receive SMS messages, even if you provided your mobile number. In other words, providing your mobile number is not considered consent.
Here is an example of what the form might look like:
Receive SMS Reminders?
These are reminders about food prep you've set up for your meals for the week. You don't need to receive these reminders to plan meals.
Not a real form, just an example
-
Once you've submitted your number and given consent via the aforementioned checkbox, we will send you a single SMS message asking for confirmation of that consent. An example of what this might look like is below. If you do not respond to that SMS message, we assume you have not consented to receive SMS messages and we will not send any further SMS Messages.
Here is an example of the SMS message you will receive to confirm your consent:
This number was entered on Third Tank's website to recive SMS Notifications. Please reply "1" to complete your consent to receive them. Any other reply, or no reply, will be taken as revocation of your consent.
To say this another way, the only way to consent to receive SMS messages from us is to both 1) check a checkbox that indicates you are consenting and 2) respond affirimately to a subsequent SMS message.
You Can Revoke Your Consent At Any Time
At any time, you may remove your consent via the app's site to stop receiving texts.
You may also text STOP
to the number we use to send texts, and you will not receive texts from that number.
